Join us in celebration for Matariki 2023. Pop in anytime 9am-3pm to admire the display, or jump in on one of the scheduled activities. All are welcome.
We warmly invite tamariki, rangatahi, kaumatua and whānau to join us at St Mathews Church in Helensville for a fun week of activities and connection in celebration of Matariki 2023.
An interactive Matariki display with art from our local tamariki will feature all week at the church. Families & whānau are invited to drop in any time Monday - Friday 9am-3pm, or join in on one of the scheduled activities.
Matariki is a time to acknowledge the past and celebrate new beginnings. It is a time for communities to come together and celebrate. It is also a beautiful example of how the revival of Mātauranga Māori (traditional Māori knowledge) offers many taonga (treasures) from which we can all learn and grow.
Local organizations including Te Ha Oranga o Kaipara, Kindred Family Services, South Kaipara Good Food, Parent Aid and others (see full list below) are hosting free Matariki-related activities such as raranga (weaving), throughout the week of July 3rd.
Special thanks to Reverend Jacynthia Murphy for hosting this event, and to April from Paper Plus Select Helensville for providing the materials.
More details to follow.
