Men's Living Without Violence Group

This programme run by Abuse Prevention Services is for men who take their frustration out on others, have repeating destructive patterns of behaviour, do things the regret later and frighten their family; men who are using tactics of power and control/enacting family violence.

The objectives of the programme are to encourage men to be accountable for their behaviour as well as assisting them to change attitudes and beliefs and develop an understanding of the effects their behaviour has on women and children.

The average group has between 6-14 participants. It is confidential and run by skilled facilitators.

It is a rolling programme, which means men can join at any time once they have completed an assessement (in Helensville) and an orientation (in Orewa). Men may refer themselves or be referred by the court, Oranga Tamariki or another support agency.

The programme is scheduled to commence with a Group orientation in Orewa on 19 April. Thereafter it will be held every Tuesday evening from 6:30pm-9pm in Helensville. Participants will be informed of the location when they register.

To register email Gayathri mp.supervisor@abuseprevention.org.nz or call her on 027 344 0098.
